About Rakudo-An
About Rakudo-An
Small boutique hotel with exlusive three rooms, renovated from a 200-year-old traditional ‘Azumadachi’ farm house, which is located in the Tonami Plain Dispersed Settlement.
The space is seamlessly connected to the natural environment surrounded on three sides by rice paddies and history using traditional natural materials such as soil, wood, washi paper and silk, and is set up in harmony with Mingei(folk crafts), local crafts and contemporary art. The premises include the restaurant, which serves Toyama's unique cuisine using ingredients from Toyama's sea, mountains and countryside, and the boutique selling Mingei, local crafts and Toyama's food.
The operating body, Mizu to Takumi Co Ltd, is an organisation that works on regional revitalisation through tourism. As Rakudo-An is also part of this, the activities are carried out in the following ways at Rakudo-An.
- 2% of the accommodation fee is used to fund Dispersed Settlement conservation activities
- Various activity programs are organised to enable guests to experience the attractions and challenges of Dispersed Settlement
- The use of vessels from local traditional industries and craftspeople, and the development of original Dispersed Settlement products, are sold at the Rakudo-An shop
