日本の民藝 / Japanese Mingei

Japanese Mingei folk crafts and contemporary handmade items, such as Yoshino lacquerware, Onta ware and Naeshirogawa ware pottery, which were highly regarded by Yanagi Soetsu and others in the Mingei movement, are used throughout Rakudo-An and in the restaurant.

Among these items, there are Mingei folk crafts collected about 70 years ago by Keiji Yasukawa, a woodworker and architect from Toyama who was one of Yanagi Soetsu’s Ten Disciples. These items were gathered for the Hokuriku Bank’s guesthouse and are part of the collection.

Additionally, a writing bureau, which is believed to have been a prototype created by Yasukawa for the “Matsumoto Mingei Furniture” collection, is available for use in the Rakudo-An library.
