倉井 秀延 / Hidenobu Kurai
The bed frames, bedside tables, and amenity boxes at Rakudoan are custom-made by his work.
He learned to make “Shaker Furniture” from the Shakers’ poor religious life, has created simple, functional, and beautiful furniture and furnishings, which are away from the self blend in with the space of Rakudo-an.
Hidenobu KURAI (1980- )
Born in Kurobe, Toyama in 1980.
Studied at Uno Furniture Studio, the leading workshop for Shaker furniture production in Japan. In 2010, he established his own studio as Kurai Furniture Studio.
Participated in many group exhibitions such as ”Kyo to Isu Exhibition ( in Kyoto).
Producing made-to-order furniture and wooden products based on the concept of tools for daily life.
