Core glass” is one of the ancient glass forming methods that began in Mesopotamia around 1600 B.C. It is said to have disappeared around the 1st century B.C. with the appearance of blown glass techniques that made mass production possible.
Self-taught in the research of this lost technique, and fascinated by the works of Iwao Matsushima, a glass artist who has revived core glass in the present age, as well as by ancient glass, Ryoko Tsukurimichi started her career as a core glass artist.
